Want to Play? The Sting is looking for athletes who love to be challenged. No football experience is neccessary. Players are taught by former professional and semi-professional football coaches and will learn the skills to become a high caliber football player. Historically speaking its been a long road since 1920 when women had to fight for the same right to vote as men and now 90 years later we have a country that promotes, supports and glorifies the wonder woman in us all. From mothers, wives, daughters, sisters to students, dedicated employees to small business owners and entrepreneurs. Through all of our blood, sweat and tears we are experiencing the unity and fight of any unrecognized organization around.
The San Diego Sting will be hosting their first home game of the 2010 season Saturday, April 24, 2010. Kick off is at 7:00pm. The designated home field is none other than San Diego’s own Southwest High located at 1685 Hollister Street. San Diego, CA 92154.
If you haven’t been “stung” yet with the news of this amazing team then let me fill you in. This is a “real” team of women ranging in age from 18-45 from all over San Diego County that are determined to show not only San Diego but the whole world that women are as dedicated and able to play a hard hitting game of football as anyone else. Don’t think twice about it, there are no powder puffs or lingerie being worn on this field. Sorry guys…This is for the real football fans. The WFA (www.wfafootball.com) is a full contact regulation football league for women, with a smaller ball and 5yd kickoff difference. When watching you might not even remember that these are ladies!
Our hopes and desires are to achieve individual growth that will enhance our ability to unite as a team and a movement. This achievement is one that we wish to promote to others in the community. Whether you are an athlete or not is of little importance. This team is about mental and emotional strength. We have positions on and off the field that are of the utmost importance to the success of our goals. Join us as we play our inaugural season and strive to bring home the 2010 National Championship!!!
